Man Charged with Attempted Murder in August Jefferson Park Shooting
Chicago police arrested Gabriel Serrano months after officers released alerts searching for two suspects who opened fire on Milwaukee Avenue.
A 36-year-old Northwest Side man faces a felony attempted first-degree murder charge after allegedly threatening a man and firing a handgun in his direction in Jefferson Park, Chicago police said.
Members of the Chicago Police Department arrested Gabriel Serrano on Tuesday afternoon in the 5600 block of West Goodman Street.

The incident occurred on August 15, 2026, in the 4900 block of North Milwaukee Avenue in the city’s 16th District.
Investigators said Serrano verbally threatened a 33-year-old male victim before pulling out a firearm and shooting in his direction.
No one was struck or injured by the gunfire.
Mass Transit detectives previously released community alerts seeking a man and woman who both allegedly brandished handguns and fired toward the victim during the encounter.

Officers executed an arrest warrant on West Goodman Street and took Serrano into custody without incident.
Prosecutors charged Serrano with one felony count of attempted first-degree murder.

Serrano is scheduled to appear for a detention hearing at the Leighton Criminal Court Building at 2600 South California Avenue on October 22, 2026.
Police have not released further details regarding the identity or status of the second suspect.
